I was one of those kids in primary school who was really annoyed when music teachers were teaching a song, and they sung it in a different key from the original. It would be later that I realised I was the opposite of tone deaf.

I always wanted to make my own music, to have something I can listen to and call my own. The problem was, I didn't know what kind of music, let alone how to go about it.

But some time down the line I took the plunge and experimented in FL Studio. What I make today isn't quite what I had in mind, but I'm pleased enough with it. I'm always looking to improve, to learn new things about production, instrumentation, mixing, etc.

Daizo Kobayashi on Guitar. Dakota Tan Shu Yin on Drums. Hong Swee Jie on a pirated copy of FL Studio 12.

Nostalgic Scapegoats began as a reinvention to my music persona, beginning with Petals of Static in 2022 — a "wall of sound" that takes on a darker tone while experimenting with live recordings.

Since then, the Nostalgic Scapegoats name has grown into the moniker I use for sounds, scores and soundtracks that accompany the various multimedia works I create.
